The team has been criticized for many reasons and Vikings mentor Minhajul Abedin Nannu has criticized the local players for the team’s poor run in the tournament.
He told in a recent interview: “Our local players are not being able to perform. This his become vital for us. Though Bijoy has played two good innings, icon player like Soumya Sarkar didn’t perform at all. Not even Shuvasish too. Taskin is getting wickets but conceding too many runs. Sanjamul also played good in only two matches. Overall, the performance is zero.”
He added: “It is difficult to get results if the local players don’t perform well playing with the combination of foreign players. In batting, only the foreign players are scoring runs. Vikings are thr only team who used the powerplay perfectly. As the team is dependent on the local players, the bowlers couldnt do well as per expectations.”
Chittagong Vikings have spent low in buying the players. When asked what Nannu thinks about it, he said: “Chittagong is a low budget team. From the beginning, the franchise decided that they will not make a big budget team. Its difficult to balance a team when its a low profile team.”
