Although Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan Papon and chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu repeatedly orated in defiance of any new inclusion in the primary squad for the forthcoming home series, strong possibilities have arrived in front of selectors to open the national team door for several new as well as olden performers who proved themselves in the domestic league matches.
Since Saturday morning, national team selectors have seated to discuss and therefore select a squad uniquely for both home series against Sri Lanka and the Tri nation series before that.
National team chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu hinted to one of the online portals that the primary squad could be consisted of 30 to 32 cricketers.
“We will soon finalize the names. 30 to 32 cricketers will be called for the Tri nation series and two Test home and two T20I series against Sri Lanka. From that, the team of the Tri nation series will be announced first and then we will call for the Test team. The team of the T20I series will be selected in the last phase,” Minhajul Abedin said.
This is however, the first time selectors are meeting to take decisions caste apart from the influence of coach Chandika Hathurusingha. After ending the away series against South Africa, Hathurusingha left off his duty of coaching Bangladesh national team without any prior notice. He has lately taken the responsibility of Sri Lanka national team.
