In the Ashes 2017, Mitchell Marsh, the 26 year old right handed batsman of Australia completed a rare series of family ton; on his way to an unbeaten 181 runs, Mitchell became the third generation batsman of the Marsh family to score an Ashes century.
In WACA on Saturday, Mitchell Marsh partnered with captain Steve Smith in a 301 run partnership to score 181 runs not out facing 236 deliveries.
His elder brother Shaun Marsh cherished his first Ashes ton at the Adelaide Oval, and unbeaten 126 runs.
Their father Geoff Marsh, scored 138 runs at the Nottinghamshire as an opener in 1989 at the WACA.
“I’ll tell dad that I surpassed him,” said Mitchell after achieving the wonderful feat that included 29 boundaries.
Besides Mitchell Marsh’s ton, Steven Smith smashed a double hundred, eventually took Australia’s first innings to a total of 662 runs (declared) for the loss of 9 wickets.
