Records tumbled down in the cold Friday evening at Indore when Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul partnered for the highest opening partnership for India in T20I cricket breaking the previous one in which KL Rahul was also a part.
Flurry of fours and sixes came out of Sharma’s willow on the way of his touching the fastest shortest version hundred made by David Miller. With 10 maximums in the innings, Rohit Sharma’s 100 came off 35 deliveries.
It was his eighth international hundred in 2017; spotted him in the second place after Indian skipper Virat Kohli who knocked down 11 of them in the year with few more days to go from now on.
The 30 year old Indian opener has now the striker of most of number sixes in 2017, last but not the least, the Mumbai batsman possess the record of hitting most number of sixes in a calendar year, beating AB de Villiers’ hit of 63 in 2015.
Rohit Sharma hammered 64 of them in the current year. With that, he also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of hitting most number of sixes in a calendar year by any Indian batsmen.
In 1998, Sachin slumbered 52 sixes while Rohit Sharma has now 56 of them in 2017.
