Shakib Al Hasan’s Kerala Kings have clinched a comfortable victory of eight wickets in the opening T10 League match against Bengal Tigers in Group A in Sharjah.
Kings put Tigers into bat after winning the toss. The Tigers posted 86/1 in 10 overs. Johnson Charles top-scored with 27-ball 33 with 4 fours and a six. Wahab Riaz was the first wicket-taker in T10 league when he sent back Charles.
Shakib didn’t have much to show but yet managed to contribute for his team. Kerala captain Eoin Morgan asked him to bowl in the sixth over. The Bangladesh all-rounder gave away only five runs in his only over including four dot balls. Commentators showered praise on him for his bowling performance.
Shakib saved some runs in the field with brilliant fielding. He was given ‘Best fielder of the Match’ after Kerala’s win.
Kerala went on to score 90/2 in eight overs. Paul Stirling scored the first half-century of the tournament, 66* runs off 27 deliveries including 10 fours and 3 sixes. The Irishman was named Man of the Match.
In the other match Tamim Iqbal’s team Pakhtoons beat Maratha Arabians by 25 runs. Tamim was absent in the match who is expected to join the team from second match. Shahid Afridi creates a record picking up a first ever hat-trick in T10 Cricket League.
