Though Sri Lanka grabbed a big win against India in one of the ODI in this series, their lack of consistency made them suffer again in the rest of the matches.
Sri Lanka elected to field first after winning the toss at Cuttack and India made a good start. After Rohit Sharma’s early dismissal, KL Rahul guided the innings and went on to score a well made half century.
The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni came up the order and was seen batting at two down after a long time. It turned out to be a right move in the end as Dhoni played a crucial cameo of 33 off just 22 balls with Manish Pandey supporting equally at the other end.
Their firing partnership helped India to post a huge total of 180 runs. The Sri Lankan bowlers on the other hand didn’t had much success and it was only Angelo Mathews who looked handly and also economical with the ball.
In reply to India’s 180, Sri Lanka lost an early wicket of Dickwella and afterwards the wickets kept tumbling and Sri Lanka looked no where in the game to chase down this huge score. They were bundled out for just 87 runs in the end.
The Indian bowlers all contributed well but it was Hardik Pandya and Chahal who gave no chance to the Lions to crawl back into the game. After winning the match convingcingly by 93 runs, India lead the three match T20I series 1-0.
