The Dhaka wicket has been criticized by many and indicated it as not an ideal wicket for T20 in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The match between Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians on Saturday ended in a low scoring match where Comilla needed last over to chase down the target of just 98 runs.
After the match, both the captain of the two teams Tamim Iqbal and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza criticized the wicket in the press conference, but Tamim went beyond the line and as a result Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issed a warning letter to him for criticizing the Dhaka wicket in an inappropriate manner.
Tamim said: “Always there is an excuse that this venue didn’t get rest as it has hosted a lot of matches. But this time, we are playing after a gap of 10 days. Perhaps the curator can give the best answer.”
He added: “It is disappointing for the crowd as they have witnessed one team making 97 runs and the other team struggling to get over that, requiring to go till the last over to complete the task.”
In the very next day, Chittagong Vikings were bundled out for just 67 runs against Sylhet Sixers in the same wicket. The playoffs and finals will also be held at the same venue.
