In the fourth Ashes Test of 2017-18, David Warner smacked his 21st Test hundred, thus surpassed Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s tally of 20 tons. Warner needed 130 deliveries to reach the three figure mark.
With that century, Warner became the 14th Aussie batsman to scored 6000 Test runs.
The run towards the century was quite dramatic for Warner at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. On his 99, Warner edged a delivery from Tom Curran but umpires signaled the ‘no ball’ finding Curran overstepped.
In the next ball, David Warner was celebrating his hundred. This was the consecutive hundred done by Warner at the MCG. The innings comprised of 13 fours and a six. Warner’s average at the MCG now stands as high as 46 in Test cricket.
Warner went passed 20 hundreds’ scored by Mark Waugh to get the entry in the top ten Australian batsman scoring Test centuries. Ricky Ponting topped the list with 41 of them.
