1122 cricketers register for IPL auction

A total of 1122 players have registered for the Indian Premier League auction set to be held on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Saturday (January 13). England’s Test captain Joe Root also thrown his hat into the ring with a total of 282 overseas players hoping to earn a contract.


A total of 26 players from England, 58 from Australia, 30 from New Zealand and 57 from South Africa have registered for the auction. Afghanistan too will see 13 players in the list while there are as many as 39 players from Sri Lanka. 39 players from Windies too have entered the auction.

Bangladesh have 8 players in the auction and they are Tamim IqbalMustafizur RahmanSabbir RahmanLiton Kumar Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Abul Hasan Raju and Mahmudullah Riyad.

The full list has already been sent out to the eight franchises. There are a total of 281 capped players, 838 uncapped players, which also includes 778 Indian players, apart from three players from Associate nations.
