According to sources, batsmen Soumya Sarkar and Liton Das, and fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will not be picked for the tri-nation series. Mosaddek Hossain may also miss out on selection as he has already been released from preliminary squad to play Bangladesh Cricket League.

Left-arm orthodox spinner Nazmul Islam is likely to get maiden ODI call-up. He has played in the first warm-up game on Saturday.

Anamul Haque has higher chances of replacing Soumya in the squad. The right-hander had a productive year 2017 in first-class cricket as he scored 1077 runs at 63.35 including two double centuries. He also aggregated 596 runs in 16 Dhaka Premier League innings last year. He made 206 runs at 128.75 in eight innings in Bangladesh Premier League 2017.

Imrul Kayes, whose form has been questioned throughout the last year, may still retain his place in the squad but Anamul could take part in the main matches. Sabbir Rahman didn’t have a good 2017 with the bat. But he will still make his way in the squad with Nasir Hossain.

The Tigers will be playing all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan at number three in the tri-series, that starts with match against Zimbabwe on January 15.

Bangladesh’s likely ODI squad: Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (captain), Shakib Al Hasan (vice-captain), Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Mahmudullah Riyad, Sabbir Rahman, Anamul Haque, Nasir Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Nazmul Islam.
