On Sunday, after the third Gillette ODI series match between Australia and England, the home side skipper has been cut short of nearly fifty percent of their match fees for a slow over rate accusation.
Match referee Ranjan Madugalle imposed the fine when Australia were deemed to fall two overs short in the target time. In according with the rules Steven Smith was fined 40% of his match fees while other members of the team were fined 20% of that.
The ICC’s code of conduct states that players are fined 10 per cent of their match fee for every over they fail to bowl in the permitted time, with the captain charged twice that amount.
In the third ODI of the Gillette Series, English wicket keeper Jos Buttler hit a magnificent hundred taking his team scoring 302 runs for 6 after which the home side fall short of 16 runs ended at 286 for the loss of 6 wickets.
The fourth ODI is dated to take place on January 26 at the Adelaide Oval and the fifth and final one day international match to be taken place two days after that at the Perth Stadium.
