In the plate round of ICC Under-19 World Cup, Bangladesh Under-19 team have defeated England Under-19 team in the fifth place play-off match. In reply to England’s total of 217 runs, young Tigers chased down the target with 15 deliveries to spare.
Teen all-rounder Afif Hossain exhibited a wonderful all-round show taking 3 wickets bowling 5.2 overs and scored highest 71 runs.
Bangladesh skipper Saif Hassan won the toss and decided to field first in Queenstown on Sunday. England lost their first wicket at the score of 17.
But afterwards captain Harry Brooks and Liam Banks rushed to 126 run partnership in the second wicket. Leg spinner Mohammad Rakib broke the partnership claiming the wicket of Banks in his individual score of 74.
The departure of Liam Banks jerked English batting line up with a huge landslide; they lost 5 wickets within 14 runs. Skipper Brook scored a run a ball 66.
J Davies and Prem Sisodiya tried to raise quick runs at the end but none could build up a long innings. England, eventually, lost all their wickets scoring 216 runs in 47.2 overs.
Bangladesh started their chase slowly; after scoring a 15 ball 7 runs, Pinak Ghosh lost his wicket to Bamber.
On the other end of the crease, skipper Saif Hassan hold the proceedings for Bangladesh and built up effective little partnerships with Aminul Islam, Towhid Hridoy and Afif Hossain Dhrubo.
The highest 66 run partnership was composed with Dhrubo who later on was adjudged man of the match.
Young Tiger skipper Saif Hassan was back to the pavilion scoring 59 runs. Afif Hossain played the most exquisite innings for the team. Ornamented with 7 fours and a six, Afif’s furnished 71 runs came off 86 deliveries.

Bangladesh played with per excellence in the group stage of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand to make their place into the quarter finals but lost the vital match against neighboring India thus thrown out before the semi-final of the mega age group tournament.
