After losing the first two matches of the tri-nation series, Sri Lanka have finally experienced the taste of glory as they beat Zimbabwe comfortably by 5 wickets to stay alive in the tournament.
Chandimal in post match press conference: “It was tough, especially after the first two games. It is tough for any team. We got only four games. When you win first two games you have a good chance in the tournament. But we discussed so many things. We had something up our sleeve and we got the result we wanted.”
About targeting the bonus point: “Before we went into bat, we had that plan to get bonus point before 40th over. After 25th over, we changed our minds since it was a tough wicket to bat on. The first aim was to win the game.”
About Chandika Hathurusingha: “It is always an honour and pleasure to work with Chandika Hathurusingha. He has got good knowledge. As a player, we will have to learn more from him. He is an asset. I am sure guys will perform well in the future.”
About captaincy: “As a captain, the pressure is always there. I am enjoying my captaincy, especially once you win and perform.”
