Hathurusingha’s first mission with Sri Lanka is the tri-nation series and the coach is set to face his former team on 19th January. Hathurusingha knows the weaknesses of the Bangladeshi players and that is a thing to worry about. But Halsall doesn’t think the same.
He said: “Chandika is a very good coach. But last night we saw Shakib getting wickets and Tamim scoring runs. Chandika can’t score runs neither he can take wickets.”
“We all know when Sri Lanka will be at their best, they will be a very strong team. We know how can they play. We saw how they defeated India in champions trophy. Though they are not playing well recently, that doesn’t mean they will play bad against us. They are a good side. Their Angelo Mathews and Lakmal are very experienced.”
When asked about Bangladesh: “We have many option in our team now. We have backup for every position now. Due to the team combination, a talented spinner like Mehidy Hasan Miraj is out of the team. It is same case for the pacers too. Saif, Raju are wating for their opportunity and it is more difficult for the batsmen to get place in the team.”
