The tri-nation series between Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will begin on 15th January and in the first match the host Bangladesh will take on against Zimbabwe at the home of cricket Mirpur Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
All the teams will rightly have an opportunity to increase their rating points in the ICC ODI rankings. Bangladesh will start the tournament with number 7 position in the rankings. The team’s rating point is now 92 points.
Sri Lanka is at number 8 position with 84 points who are also a participant in the tournament. Bangladesh can increase up to 95 points in this tournament. In case of Sri Lanka, its 87 points and 61 points for Zimbabwe.
The rankings are unlikely to chance unless Bangladesh plays a bad tournament or Sri Lanka do exceedingly well in the tournament. If Bangladesh plays terribly, their rating points can decrease up to 84 points whereas in case of Sri Lanka it will be 81 and for Zimbabwe it will be 51 points.
If Sri Lanka wins all the matches in the tournament and Bangladesh loses all then Sri Lanka will take over Bangladesh’s 7th position in the rankings. But that’s unlikely to happen considering Sri Lanka’s awful form and the team with most defeats in the year 2017.
