After the departure of coach Chandika Hathurusingha, some took it in a positive way while some in negative. A complain about Hathurusingha was that he used to always pick his favorite players no matter if they are performing or not.
Soumya Sarkar, Taskin Ahmed and Sabbir Rahman are some of his favorite students and now it looks quite realistic as Soumya and Taskin both are dropped from the squad after Hathurusingha’s departure for the upcoming tri-nation series.
When Hathurusingha faced the media on Sunday, he was asked what’s his view on Soumya and Taskin’s exclusion from the squad. The Sri Lankan coach said: “Bangladesh cricket team doesn’t mean only one or two cricketers. They can still perform if they don’t have five players.”
He added: “I don’t have any favorite student. They were my favorite only when they used to perform. They were favorites because of their performance, but not anymore.”
Hathurusingha also said the team can’t be judged only by one or two players: “The team can’t be judged with one or two players. Maybe, they are important players, but that doesn’t mean one or two players defines a whole team.”
