I used to steal my father’s cycle to go to practice: Ariful

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is a platform where the local cricketers gets a chance to make their name, to hit headlines. In the fifth edition of BPL, many cricketers were successful to make their name and Khulna Titans’ Ariful Haque was one of them.

After some amazing performance throughout the tournament, Ariful has rightly got his opportunity and got selected in the training camp for the second time. The batting all-rounder is over the moon and is now eyeing to make it to the top 15.

In a recent interview with one of country’s online news portal, Ariful shared his story of how cricket game to his life: “When I started playing cricket, I didn’t get support from my family. The field was very far away from my home where I used to play. Sometimes I used to steal my father’s cycle to go to practice. When my father got to know this, he used to keep the cycle in a place where I wouldn’t be able to know.”

But that didn’t stop Ariful from going to practice: “It became difficult to go to practice after my father used to hide the cycle. Then I saw a van used to come near my house to carry goods. I used to go with that van when it used to be empty. Nasir Hossain used to be there with me.”

Ariful also said if he gets chance in the National team, he will give all he can to play for the team as long as possible: “If I perform, I will definitely get my chance. If the selectors think that they need me, then I will try to give my best. There is no big hitter in the lower order of our team. If I get chance in that place, then I believe I can work on that. I can perform well I think.”
