Maxwell recalled for last two ODIs against England

After some unfair decisions going against him, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell has finally been recalled after opener Aaron Finch ruled out of the fourth match of the ongoing series against England due to injury.

Maxwell, originally ignored for the ODIs series owing to inconsistent format the international level in limited-overs cricket, will join the squad in Adelaide on Thursday night, ahead of the Australia Day game on Friday (January 26).

However, it seems unlikely that the 29-year-old will get a chance to play, being flown in as a cover only.

Maxwell’s return to the national fold comes after he was dumped from the Test squad then initially overlooked for the one-day team, with a slap from skipper Steve Smith, despite a bag full of domestic runs.

Meanwhile, Finch is set to undergo a reassessment ahead of the fifth and final ODI in Perth on Sunday, before a decision is taken on his availability.

England have already secured the series 3-0 with two games left to play. The ODI series will be followed by a tri-nation T20I series, also involving New Zealand.
