17 year old Nayeem Hasan has been a surprise call for the forthcoming bilateral Test series against Sri Lanka. The Chittagong borne youngster is expecting to make international debut in front of home crowd two days after.
Talking to one of the local media, Nayeem said, “It would be utterly pleasing for me if I could make my debut in Chittagong. Nothing could be nicer for me if it happens, I always wishes so if like other leagues or tournaments, my national team debut would be here.”
Although it is hard to play directly in the national team from age group level, Naeem Islam said his team mates encourage him a lot in this regard.
“They told me to enjoy the game. They said, assume your opponents are under-19 cricketers as well,” Naeem Islam said.
Naeem did not play much first class cricket; he played several limited over matches wearing age group jersey.
Considering the opportunity of playing Test cricket as a big exposure, Neem said, “Bowlers have much opportunities in longer version cricket. In one day or T20 cricket, there are literally no scope to once someone make a mistake but in Test cricket, you have ample opportunities,” Naeem said.
What is the strength of Naeem in bowling? He said, “I can bounce the ball well for my height. It is nothing difficult for me to drop the ball in same spot in regular basis. I have a fine arm ball against left arm batsmen, I can insert the delivery a little bit in that case.”
