Bangladesh have pulled off a comprehensive victory of 163 runs in the third match of Rocket tri-series against Sri Lanka at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur. The Tigers have earned bonus point in successive matches.
Bangladesh elected to bat first at the toss. Openers Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque made a solid start with adding 50 in the first powerplay. The partnership ended in 71 runs. Anamul got dismissed for 37-ball 35 with 3 fours and a six after having several lives.
Tamim built his innings to his 40th fifty in 72 balls. Shakib Al Hasan joined him to take charge on Sri Lanka. They put on 99 runs for the second-wicket. Tamim was given out on DRS review by Sri Lanka. The southpaw missed out on a 10th century after scoring 84 runs from 102 deliveries hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Shakib was then joined by Mushfiqur Rahim in a 57-run partnership. Shakib raced to his 36th half-century, his first at number three. He hammered 63-ball 67 runs with 7 boundaries.
Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah Riyad added 50 runs for the fourth-wicket. Mushfiqur scored his 28th ODI half-century in his 300th international match. Mahmudullah departed scoring 23-ball 24. Mushfiqur made 62 off 52 balls hitting 4 fours and a six.
The Tigers posted their 12th 300+ total in ODI cricket, second against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh made 320/7 in 50 overs. 77 runs came in the last ten overs losing four wickets.
Sabbir Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin took 19 runs from the last over. Sabbir smashed 24* runs with 3 fours and one six at a strike rate of 200.
Thisara Perera was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka with 3/60.
Mustafizur Rahman then bowled Niroshan Dickwella. Shakib sent back Sri Lankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal for 28 with a direct through. That was followed by back-to-back wickets of Asela Gunaratne and Wanindu Hasaranga from Shakib.
Thisara played a 14-ball 29-run blitz with 3 fours and 2 sixes before becoming Shakib’s third wicket. Rubel Hossain bowled Suranga Lakmal with a full-length delivery and dismissed Akila Dananjaya to bowl Sri Lanka out for 157 runs in 32.2 overs.
Bangladesh won by 163 runs, which is the biggest margin of victory for them in ODI history.
