The year 2017 began with a dazzling double hundred for Shakib Al Hasan. The innings against a strong New Zealand side in an away series is evidently one of the best innings Shakib every played so far in his career.
Admittedly Shakib also rated that innings along with the limited over century against the Kiwis in the ICC Champions Trophy as best scores played.
“To me both the innings against New Zealand are bests. In bowling, getting 10 wickets against Australia is notable for me,” Shakib said.
Receiving ‘The Best Sportsman of the Year 2017’ award by Bangladesh Krira Lekhok Shomiti (Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association), Bangladesh newly appointed Test captain said any reward always encouraging for a sportsman.
Shakib will lead Bangladesh in the Test series against Sri Lanka after the tri-nation series consists of Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh.
Besides that, he became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to represent the country in the MCC World Cricket Committee and now have flown to Sydney to join in the first meeting of the year.
The tri-nation series will kick off from 15th of January, 2018 with the match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
Bangladesh will play a two match Test series and equal number of T20I matches against Sri Lanka after the tri-nation series.
The Test series is scheduled to begin from 31st of January this year.
