Just before beginning the tri-nation series, Zimbabwe national team is troubled by the resignation of bowling coach Makhaya Ntini. The news of Ntini’s resignation has been confirmed by a tweet of Zimbabwe Cricket. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ বাংলাদেশ সফরে এনটিনিকে পাচ্ছে না জিম্বাবুয়ে]
The 40 year old coach took the responsibility of Zimbabwe’s bowling for a two year term in 2016. Ntini also worked as the interim head coach of Zimbabwe in May, 2016 after the departure of Dav Whatmore from which was ended after Heath Streak was appointed as the head coach.
In a press release done by Zimbabwe Cricket, it stated, “Zimbabwe Cricket regrets to inform that our national team bowling coach Makhaya Ntini instantly submitted the resignation letter. He brought great experience and practical knowledge in Zimbabwe cricket. Zimbabwe cricketers, coaching staffs is lucky to work with him and learn from him during this period of time.”
It further stated, “So much unwillingly, we have granted his resignation; Zimbabwe Cricket respects his decision and conveys well wishes for his future.”
Makhaya Ntini featured 101 Test matches for South Africa, 173 one day international matches and 10 T20I matches.
He grabbed 390 Test wickets and 266 one day international wickets for his country.
Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will face in the inaugural match of the tri-nation series on 15th of January.
Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in a two match Test series and two match T20I series afterwards.
