After losing players after players including their captain due to injury, South Africa gets a glimpse of hope to fightback in the last three ODIs as AB de Villiers has returned to South Africa’s squad for the last three one-day internationals against India, but his availability for the fourth match at the Wanderers on Saturday is yet to be determined.
In the 6 match ODI series, South Africa is already down 3-0 and now they have no chance to win the series and can only hope to draw the series by winning the last three matches. For that, AB de Villiers has to be at his best.
South Africa is already without their captain Faf du Plessis and wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock. Because of the absence of the skipper, 23-year old batsman Aiden Markram is leading the ODI side and he also lead the team in the T20Is.
But de Villiers’s comeback will be a massive boost for Proteas believes senior all-rounder JP Duminy: “Having AB back is going to be a massive boost. He’s one of the world’s best players in one-day cricket. He will bring confidence to the team and his leadership within the group will add a lot of value as well.”
South Africa squad for last three ODIs: Aiden Markram (c), Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Chris Morris, Lungisani Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Khayelihle Zondo, Farhaan Behardien.
