Sri Lanka crossed 600 mark in the first session on day four. Roshen Silva completed his first Test century in that session. Skipper Dinesh Chandimal was on 87 at lunch. He couldn’t add anymore runs as he was bowled by Taijul Islam in the third ball of the first over after lunch.
Niroshan Dickwella scored runs quickly while Dilruwan Perera played the supportive role. They put on 50 runs for the sixth-wicket. Dickwella departed scoring 61-ball 62 runs including 9 fours.
Sunzamul Islam took his maiden Test wicket by trapping Perera lbw for 32.
Rangana Herath and Suranga Lakmal have batted out till the tea break. Sri Lanka scored 93 runs for three wickets in the second session. The tourists were 705/7 in 197 overs at tea.
Taijul dismissed Lakmal (9) and Herath (24) right after the tea break. Chandimal declared Sri Lanka’s innings for 713/9.
This is the second time a team has scored 700+ total against Bangladesh in Tests. Sri Lanka scored 730/6d in 2014 Dhaka Test. This is also the sixth time Sri Lanka have scores 700 runs or more in an innings.
Bangladesh have bowled 199.3 overs, the second-most for them in the history. Taijul bowled 67.3 overs for his four wickets, the most overs bowled by a Bangladeshi.
