Sri Lanka are still in the driver’s seat as they are itching close to 100-run lead in the first innings after the first session of the fourth day in the first Test against Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong. [Click here to get ball by ball live update of the match]
Sri Lanka were 504/3 overnight with big centuries from Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva. They had enough wickets to pile on big lead.
In the fourth morning, Roshen Silva became the third Lankan in the innings to score a hundred. He reached his maiden Test century in 197 balls in his second match. He made 109 runs from 230 deliveries with 6 fours and a six. Mehidy Hasan Miraz managed to break the 135-run stand for the fourth-wicket between Roshen and skipper Dinesh Chandimal.
Chandimal scored his 16th half-century in 121 balls. He put on another important partnership with wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella. They put on 62 runs till lunch. Chandimal is on 183-ball 87* including just 3 boundaries. Dickwella have raced to 29* off 39 hitting 4 fours.
Yet another session has belonged to the tourists. They have scored 108 runs in the session just losing the wicket of Roshen, who was caught behind off Miraz. There was some help for the spinners on day four track.
Sri Lanka have set the highest team total at ZACS breaking England’s 599/6d in 2010. The Lankans are leading by 99 runs as they are 612/4 in 168 overs at lunch.
