Shakib was picked by Zalmi in the draft. He played for them in 2017 edition as well. Tamim Iqbal was retained by the franchise.
Shakib is currently out of cricket with finger injury that he sustained during the final of tri-nation series against Sri Lanka last month. He missed Test and T20I series against the Lankans as well.
The ace all-rounder is expected to return in T20 tri-series Nidahas Trophy in March. He is going through recovery process right now. Moreover, Bangladesh are scheduled to leave for Sri Lanka on March 4 So he won’t be taking part in this year’s PSL.
Sabbir, who went unsold in PSL auction, has been named as Peshawar’s replacement. He left Dhaka to play the tournament yesterday (Tuesday) with Mahmudullah Riyad (Quetta Gladiators) and Mustafizur Rahman (Lahore Qalandars).
All are given NOCs (No Object Certificate) till 4th March and will join Bangladesh squad directly in Sri Lanka. Tamim will join Zalmi’s squad once his VISA issue is solved.
Peshawar Zalmi will take on Multan Sultans in the opening game of the 2018 edition at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 22. The Final will be played on March 25 in Lahore.
