Bangladesh missed Shakib’s services in the two Tests after he sustained a finger injury in the tri-series final last month. The newly appointed Tigers Test skipper missed out on both Tests.
The hosts will miss their most experienced T20 player in the T20Is as well. Bangladesh will tour Sri Lanka for a T20 tri-series ‘Nidahas Trophy’ which also includes India. Shakib is looking to be back to the side in the tri-series.
“I don’t think there is any chance of me returning in the T20I series as the doctor has told me I’ll need another two weeks to recover fully. I hope I will be able to play in Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka after completing my rehabilitation process,” said Shakib.
Bangladesh lost Dhaka Test in two and a half days after drawing in Chittagong. Shakib is hopeful that his mates will hit back in the shortest format.
“Everyone had the aim of winning. But it’s normal that it cricket doesn’t provide you what you want. But I’m very hopeful of using bouncing back in the T20Is,” he added.
