During the final of the tri-nation series against Sri Lanka, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan injured his finger while fielding and it didn’t only ruled him out from that match, but also for the two match Test series.
Bangladesh felt the absence of Shakib very well as they lost the Test series 1-0 with the Lions dominating the Tigers in the 2nd Test match. Just after the end of the 2nd Test match, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced 15-man squad for the first T20I match.
Though skipper Shakib has been included in the squad but there is still a doubt if he can play the match. BCB doctor Debashish Chowdhury doesn’t want to risk Shakib and he thinks he should play only when he will become fully fit.
He said: “When he (Shakib) will start training tomorrow, then we can say it will take five days or seven days for him to recover. He has ten stitches in his hand, how he can hold the ball! He has to be confident. The pain has started to heal and now he has to take care of his recovery.”
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the first T20I on 15th February at the Shere-e-Bangla National Stadium.
