In the game of twist and turns, Zimbabwe just showed how perfect revenge can be taken in the 2nd ODI against Afghanistan at Sharjah. Same amount of runs scored, same margin of defeat but only the teams were interchanged.
After Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe by 154 runs in the 1st ODI, Zimbabwe have fought back strongly and defeated the Afghans with the same margin after they scored exactly 333 runs like Afghanistan in the 1st ODI.
It is not long ago when Brendan Taylor made a comeback again for Zimbabwe and he has proved once again what Zimbabwe was missing. After opting to bat first, courtesy of Taylor’s 125 and Sikandar Raza’s 92, Zimbabwe posted a mammoth score of 333 runs in their 50 overs.
In reply, the top order of the Afghanistan failed miserably and none of the batsman except Rahmat Shah (43) and Mohammad Nabi (31) could contribute well. In the bowling department, skipper Graeme Cremer led the team from the front and picked up 4 important wickets with Tendai Chatara picking up 3.
Zimbabwe just needed 30 overs to bowl Afghanistan out for 179 runs and it earned them their first victory in the tour so far. The teams will face each other again in the 3rd ODI on 13th February at Sharjah.
ZIM 333/5 (50 ov) | Taylor 125 (121), Raza 92 (74) | Rashid 2/36
AFG 179 (30.1 ov) | Rahmat 43 (61) | Chatara 3/24, Cremer 4/41
Result: Zimbabwe won by 154 runs
