Defeats after defeats, Bangladesh were in the back foot and low of confidence before the start of their second match in the Nidahas Trophy, but they have turned it around and that too in a handsome fashion.
The batters batted out of their skins especially the man Mushfiqur Rahim who was at the crease till the end to make sure Bangladesh chase down and create history. The match was looking well in hand for the Tigers when Mushfiqur and skipper Mahmudullah was at the crease.
But the match slowly started to turn a bit when Bangladesh lost the wicket of their skipper and Mushfiqur was limping. In the end, an injured Mushfiqur took Bangladesh over the line and his 72 off just 35 balls made the commentators quite easy to chose the man of the match.
After getting the man of the match award, Mushfiqur said he has dedicated his brilliant knock to his new born son.
Mushfiqur said in the presentation ceremony: “We badly needed that win. Can’t ask much more than this. Gave away too many runs. 190 would have been chaseable. Liton and Tamim were outstanding to set it up. Dedicate this knock to my son, who’s only 35 days old. At the end of the day, result is the most important thing. It was just a cramp. Hopefully I will recover soon.”
