The final of the Nidahas Trophy has been done and dusted few days ago but Soumya Sarkar who bowled the last over of the match still couldn’t overcome the heartbreak yet.
After Rubel Hossain conceded 22 runs in an over, Soumya had to defend 12 runs in the last over and he almost did it before Dinesh Karthik hit the last ball for a six and made everything blur for Soumya and his side.
In an interview on Wednesday, Soumya revealed all the memories of the final: “When I was crying in the dressing room, I became very emotional. As time was passing by, I was thinking more about it. I will forever regret whenever I will start thinking about this.”
Soumya added: “If I could have bowled better, then 16 crore people could have smiled.”
The left hand batsman plays the role of a part time bowler in the team and in his career he faced the toughest challenge so far: “I bowled before but I never bowled in such a vital situation. After bowling in this kind of situation, now I have the confidence that I can bowl in any moment and in any situation.”
Soumya also believes the players of Bangladesh is finally finding the rhythm in the T20 format: “Our players are finally getting used to the T20 cricket. We used to lose matches by a big margin. But now we are scoring 200 runs, chasing down the targets.”
