South African pace maestro Kagiso Rabada faces a probable ban from two Test in consequence by International Cricket Council of a level two offence. Reports revealed, Rabada slammed Australian captain Steven Smith into the shoulders after getting him out, he was later charged of unnecessary physical contact.
Rabada is now to face a hearing on Saturday after second day’s play of the second Test between Australia and South Africa.
South African team spokesman Lerato Malekutu said the Proteas pacer will contest on the ground that the clash was unintentional.
Rabada already earned five demerit points and adding another three points in his tally for the bumping, he will be eligible to face a two Test ban. A level two offence carries two to three demerit points.
In another incident in 2017, he was given three demerit points and served a one match ban for physical contact with Sri Lanka’s Niroshan Dickwella.
