A spawning Shakib Al Hasan and Afghan spinner Rashid Khan squeezed Kings XI Punjab batting line up, softening Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fifth win in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League, took them in the second position of the point table, right after Chennai Super Kings.
It wasn’t an easy task for Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers to defend a paltry total of 132 runs against fearsome oppositions like Chris Gayle and Lokesh Rahul.
Chris Gayle launched the assault with a 22 ball 23 runs comprised of two sixes, young fast bowler from Kerala Basil Thampi beat Gayle in pace, caught by the bowler himself, sought relief in Sunriser’s camp in the ninth over of the innings.
The falling of Chris Gayle pushed Kings XI Punjab in the back foot as they could not came back in the innings with any strong partnership later on.
Inform Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair scored 12 and 13 respectively. The rest of the six batsmen in the lineup were back in the pavilion before reaching double figure mark.
Bowling one over less than his quota, Shakib Al Hasan conceded just 18 runs to bag 2 wickets. His Afghan spin mate Rashid Khan grabbed 3 wickets giving away 19 runs in 4 overs.
