Andre Russel, the West Indian recruit of Kolkata Knight Riders, outclassed Delhi Daredevils’ bowling department with a thunderous knock of 41 runs after Delhi Daredevils’ skipper Gautam Gambhir won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Losing opener Sunil Narine very early in the innings made KKR faltered a bit; at one stage, they lost 4 wickets at the score of 117 runs.
Andre Russel put up a grand show with the bat hitting 6 sixes with no fours to offer in his 12 ball innings.
In the mid of the match Russel, while talking about his innings said he enjoyed playing in the big stage so much. The 29 year old Jamaican said, “I love the big stage, I am enjoying the moment, this is what cricket is all about. The mindset was to give myself a chance, try and get in, take a couple of balls to settle.
Russel also appreciated the wicket, “This is a very good wicket, we need to make sure that there’s no repeat of the Chennai game, need to make sure we are as tight as possible. It’s tight at the moment (on whether he or Gayle is the bigger hitter), he’s the Universal boss (Gayle), so I give it to him, he has the midas touch.”
“200 on the board, any bowler would like to see so many runs on the board. What happened against CSK is beyond us now, we just had a chat and will try our best not to repeat that,” he further added.
