In the last match, the venue for the T20I series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan were announced but the schedule was yet to be announced. The announcement of the fixture came on May 9 and Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have agreed to a three-match T20I series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, India.
The three match T20I series will be on June 3, 5 and 7 and will begin at 8:30 PM (BDT). This is the first bilateral T20I series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The teams have faced each other in only one T20I before, with Bangladesh registering a nine-wicket win during the World T20 in 2014.
ACB CEO Shafiq Stanikzai said: “The ongoing training camp in India in which players from the national and U19 teams as well as top performers from domestic cricket will help the selection committee to select a strong side for the T20I series against Bangladesh. These matches will be important for both sides to gain valuable points in the ICC rankings and the lead up to the 2020 ICC World Twenty20”.
On the other hand, the CEO of BCB said: “Afghanistan have some fine players for this format and they will have the advantage of familiarity with the conditions in Dehradun. However, the Bangladesh team is a confident and experienced unit and we are really looking forward to the matches.”
