Man of the match Buttler’s 82 runs innings

In the more than halfway through the competition, the 2018 Indian Premier League is showing to be more and more striking features with increasing number of teams has proved competitiveness through bouncing back and being alive in the tournament.

 

The latest exhibition has been paraded by Rajasthan Royals, the team snatched their fourth win in 10 matches – thus continuing to run in the chase of the eleventh edition of IPL.

At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals successfully and amusingly defended 158 runs from Kings XI Punjab, the Ravichandran Ashwin led team fall short of 15 runs having 3 wickets more in hand.

Kings XI Punjab, powered by the prowess of Christopher Henry Gayle so far in the tournament, was dragged alone by Lokesh Rahul in the last night’s match against Rajasthan Royals, who almost took the team into the edge of victory single handedly enclosed by bald batting failure from rest of the team.

After opener Rahul, it was Marcus Stoinis, the eighth batsman who touched the double figure mark in the Rajasthan Royals’ innings.

The unbeaten wicket keeper batsman was close to the century, made 95 runs off 70 deliveries. He offered 11 shots of boundaries with 1 six while the rest of them including Chris Gayle, who scored 1 off 1, contributed 41 runs.

In the first part of the evening, Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bat first. The intense summer heat in Jaipur could not absorb the charm of Joss Buttler – the Englishman batted with same old favor in the opening, picked up his fifth half century in six innings in T20s.

The Lancashire wicket keeper blazed with the bat, scored 82 in 58 deliveries hooking 9 fours, also a six, his third successive fifty in this year’s IPL for Rajasthan.

For Kings XI Punjab, Mujeeb Ur Rahman managed to stop Buttler in the seventeenth over; he also took the wicket of Sanju Samson, the crucial one for Rajasthan to lose early on.

Andrew Tye came out with a figure of 4 for 34 runs in his 4 overs.

Despite the loss, Kings XI Punjab is still holding their position among top four in the point table. They are branding with 12 points winning six out of their 10 matches, behind Chennai Super Kings (14 points) and Sunrisers Hyderabad with 16 points, crowning the point table.

Rajasthan Royals are in sixth among eight franchises participating in this year’s Indian Premier League.

The bottom most spot in the point table is acquired by Delhi Daredevils, having similar number of points with Royale Challengers Bangalore, Daredevils have also fall back in net run rate.
