Bangladesh women have qualified for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final after a 70-run win over Malaysia women in the last group game at Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur. They will face India women in the final on Sunday. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ বাংলাদেশের ফাইনাল রোমাঞ্চে ভারত বাধা]
Bangladesh women only needed to win their last game to book their place for the final. They posted 130/4 on board against Malaysia after electing to bat first. Openers Shamima Sultana and Ayasha Rahman added 59 rubs. Shamima top-scored with 54-ball 43 runs. Ayasha made 31 off 27.
Fahima Khatun played a cameo at the end. She hit unbeaten 26 runs off 12 balls including 3 fours. Malaysia skipper Winifred Duraisingam took two wickets for 19.
In reply, Malaysia put on their highest score in the tournament — 60/9 but that gave Bangladesh a comfortable victory to reach finals. Duraisingam top-scored with 17 off 35. Tigress bowlers had a cheap day. Rumana Ahmed took 3 for 8.
Earlier in the day, Thailand women shocked Sri Lanka women chasing 105 on the last ball. Sri Lanka were already knocked out after the game. In the other match between Asian rivals India and Pakistan, India women chased 73-run target by seven wickets with 23 balls to spare.
The points table shows India are on top with 8 points from five matches. Bangladesh are placed second with the same number of points. The two teams will lock horns for the Asia Cup trophy in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
