Sabbir Rahman, who is currently banned from domestic cricket, has breached the discipline once again. According to a report on Cricbuzz, the hard-hitting batsman was dropped for the third T20I against Afghanistan for disciplinary reason. Sabbir reportedly involved in a verbal argument with young all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the dressing room ahead of the final T20I in Dehradun. It is learnt from a witness that the incident went into physical altercation.
“It was not that big an issue, just a misunderstanding. The incident is not even mentioned in manager’s report,” an official accompanying the team said on request of anonymity.
Sabbir failed in India tour against Afghanistan. He scored a golden duck in the first match and then 13 in the next match. He was dropped for Ariful Haque in the third T20I. Miraz also played that game and gave 18 runs in the first over, his only over of the game.
This is not the first time Sabbir has involved in a disciplinary issue. In 2016 BPL, he was fined 30 percent (TK 12 lakh) of his BPL fees for taking a woman in team hotel, which was a serious breach of discipline. In the last BPL, he was fined half of his match fees for misbehaving against umpire in Sylhet Sixers’ match against Comilla Victorians.
Sabbir is currently banned from domestic cricket (six months from January 1, 2018). He was suspended and fined TK 20 lakh by the Bangladesh Cricket Board for allegedly assaulting a fan during a NCL game in Rajshahi in last December.
The 26-year-old has three demerit points in international cricket in his bag.
