Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon believes players are carrying a below-par body language on the field since the departure of coach Chandika Hathurusingha. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ এটা বাংলাদেশ দল মনেই হচ্ছে না ]
The BCB president appeared in a press conference on Wednesday and talked about the failures after the 2-0 series loss against Afghanistan with one match still to play.
“It is very disappointing and it seems like a repetition of our performance before the Nidhas Trophy. There is a possibility that the unexpected freedom that is running in their own environment might have some kind of impact as they are not used to it,”
Character without a head coach:
“Earlier they were guided by someone [Chandika Hathurusingha] known to be firm follower of strict discipline without any compromise and they were used to run by someone who carried an angry-man like personality preferring to take all the decision by himself. ”
“I was with them in Sri Lanka during the Nidahas Trophy and they played reasonably and though they did not play extremely well still no one questioned while they lost. Somehow now I don’t find them to be representing Bangladesh.”
On appointing Steve Rhodes:
“I don’t think it will be finalized tomorrow basically we had provided Gary with our own short list while he also developed a short list of his own. Rhodes is part of both the list so we decided to call him. We have seen his profile but have not spoken with him face to face. But we have spoken with several other coaches regarding terms and conditions and we are hoping they will arrive by this month.”
