We need to improve a lot to challenge India: Mashrafe
Bangladesh demolished Pakistan in the last match of the Super four to reach into the final of the Asia Cup 2018.
The Tiger captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza, before the hard clash of the summit, said his team will have to improve considerably in all departments to challenge mighty India in the final of the biggest cricket bonanza of Asia.
He said, “We always know that India are a serious side and the number one side the world. We still need to improve a bit of our batting and bowling.
“We will be missing Shakib (Al Hasan) and Tamim (Iqbal) but the boys have showed character and one match to go, and hopefully the boys will play hard,” he added.
Without their best opener Tamim Iqbal who had been ruled out of the tournament in the opening match with a severe hand fracture, Bangladesh reached into the final. World number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was also absent in the virtual semi-final clash against Pakistan on Wednesday.
Before Imam-ul-Haq (83) respite Pakistan from the demolition at some stage, they were reduced to 18 for 3 in 3.3 overs.
The bowlers gave a handy job to Bangladesh creating timely breakthroughs giving the team the taste of win at last.
Earlier, Bangladesh also collided to 12 for 3 and were rescued by Mushfiqur Rahim’s fighting 99 and Mithun’s 60 to count a moderate 239 on the board at the end of the innings.
The final of the Asia Cup 2018 is scheduled to take place on September 28 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
