15-year-old cricketer awarded BCCI contract
A 15-year-old cricketer has been awarded a central contract by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
Shafali Verma, thje teen prodigy, was added to BCCI’s player contract announced on Thursday (January 16). She is also a part of India’s squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 to be held next month.
Verma has already taken part in nine T20Is for India, and she will be one of the most promising youngsters to watch out for at the marquee tournament.
Verma’s stakes went higher as she recently played a magnificent 124-run knock from just 78 balls against Australia A in Brisbane. That knock featured 19 fours alongside four sixes.
A total of 11 players have been handed a Grade C contract, and Verma is one of them. This list also includes newly contracted players like Priya Punia and Harleen Deol.
