Don't want to stop scoring: Naeem

On the first day of the National Cricket League (NCL) on Friday (September 15), Naeem Islam smashed an unbeaten century. However, what’s new about tha t? He has been doing it as consistently as anyone else for last couple of years in the Bangladeshi domestic circuit.

Still he has been out of any contention for a p[ossible return to the national side, which is quite disappointing for any cricketer of his caliber.

Talking to the media after Friday’s knock, Naeem said: “Everyone feels good to have scored run. I am also feeling good. Besides I have been doing this in domestic cricket regularly. So this time my aim was to get a good going. If you get a good start, you get the rhythm to carry this on throughout the season. So I am happy for this century.”

However, Naeem still can’t dream of a possible return to the national side even after such consistency, because he knows how competitive nowadays it has become to get a groove in the national dressing room.

“It would be wrong to say I am not thinking about a retunr. But nothing is in my hand. My job is to keep performing and score a lot of runs. I am enjoying my game at the moment, and my performance is also good. Now it’s up to the selectors. If they think I am good enough to be back in the squad, then only I will be back. But at this moment, I just don’t want to stop scoring,” he concluded.
