Bangladesh have shown a great fight with Australia in the recently concluded series. Both matches ended in four days after tremendous a competition between the two teams. The England series last year and this year’s Sri Lanka tour also had 1-1 Test series results. Mashrafe feels it’s time for Mushfiqur Rahim and his men to play three-match series.

“England and Sri Lanka series were also drawn 1-1. Now this series. Now it’s time for us to play three-match series at least at home. We need to play more and more Tests for it,” he said.

“The way our team is moving forward, there is no alternative of playing more matches to maintain consistency or improve more. I want 8-10 Tests in a year rather than 4-6 Tests. There will be three-match series to increase the number of matches.”

Bangladesh played three-match Test series only thrice in their 17-year-old Test history. In 2003, the toured Pakistan and came back being whitewashed although they put up a fight in Multan Test, which they could’ve won. Four years later, Bangladesh toured Sri Lanka for three Tests and returned home being humiliated in all of the matches.

Bangladesh hosted Zimbabwe for three Tests in October-November 2014 and whitewashed the opponent. Another three-match series was supposed to be played against Zimbabwe but that was reduced to limited-overs series.

The Tigers are expected to play their next three-match Test series in January-February 2019 against Zimbabwe at home. Two three-match Test series against New Zealand at home and away are also scheduled in the same year in the ftp (future tours program).
