Bangladesh beat England, Sri Lanka and Australia in past 12 months and have increased points in the rankings. However, they are still sitting at number nine with 74 points in the Test rankings, just one point less than No.8 West Indies.

South Africa are ranked number two in the rankings with 110 points. They are 15 points behind world No.1 India. A single draw against Bangladesh will let their points decrease. Losing the series will mean the Proteas slip to No.3. England are at this position with 105 ponts.

The first Test of the series will begin from September 28 at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom. The second Test will be from October 6 in Bloomfontein. Bangladesh are touring South Africa for the first time in nine years. The Tigers are missing world No.1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in the Test series but he will be available for three ODIs and two T20Is.
