Bangladesh former star performer turned commentator Athar Ali Khan reckoned two wrong decisions to castigate behind the embarrassing defeat against South Africa in the first Test of the two match Test series. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ আতাহারের চোখে ভুল ‘দুইটি’]
According to him, the first one was to decide to field after winning the toss and the second one is the mistakes in selecting the team combination.
In an after match discussion in Super Sports, Athar Ali Khan said, “I think Bangladesh committed two mistakes in the first Test match. Firstly they took bowling after winning the toss and secondly omitting Taijul Islam from the playing eleven.”
“Bangladesh management thought the wicket might be bouncy with lot of pace but the condition frustrated them ultimately because it was just like the wickets Bangladesh are accustomed to play at home,” Athar surmised.
Moreover the veteran cricket analyst surprised to watch the visiting batsmen collapsing poorly in the batting wicket of Potchefstroom.
“I just can’t find the reasons why batsmen failed to play any big score there. Apart from that, the way they lost their wickets is also a matter of concern. They would not be blamed if they departed playing very good deliveries but they went to the pavilion facing such deliveries which were not wicket taking deliveries at all,” Athar Ali Khan added. 1 of 1
