ICC set to announce Test championship tournament

A meeting will be held of ICC at New Zealand this week and in that meeting they are set to give approval of the new tournament which is the Test Championship. 

For gaining more popularity in the longer format of the game, ICC was discussing of making this tournament from long time. Now they are ready to take the final decision.

The Test championship will consist of the top 9 teams. In the meeting which will take place at Auckland on Friday, ICC are set to give a green signal for this tournament. 

In that case, the amount of Test matches will increase than before. Those teams who were not getting opportunities to play Test matches regularly will now get more matches. 

This league tournament will begin on 2019 and it will continue for 2 years. The top 2 teams will play Final at Lords.

Sydney’s Morning Heruld reported that ICC will also discuss about ODI cricket too. They will think of organizing a ODI league which will consist of 13 teams. In that case, no more 5 match ODI series between two teams will take place. 1 of 1
