Hyderabad had a lot of rainfall over the two weeks. The ground had to take a lot of water on it. Even there was a clear weather two hours before the starting time of the match (7:00 pm local time), the groundstaff couldn’t make the ground fit for play.
The umpires inspected the field and found the ground being unsafe to play on. Large divots were created when they dug their heels in. Certain areas beyond the 30-yard circle was unsafe.
The play was called of at around 8.30 pm without a toss which made the series end 1-1.
A groundstaff member said, “We are all very upset. It has been raining for 21 days in a row now. There is no way we can fight against nature or God.”
