In the countermarch of Bangladesh ‘A’ team after a long gap of more than two years, the hosts lost the toss to the visitors. After winning the toss, the Irish skipper made no hesitation to chose bat first.
Despite expecting a good start, two Irish openers failed to give a proper start to the visitors as Bangladeshi pacer Ebadat Hossain struck early of the innings and sent back James Shannon before opening his account. Ireland were 8/1 then. After losing partner Jack Tector also failed to make his innings long.
He was trapped in by Sunzamul Islam on his second over of the match. Tector was bowled for 18 as Ireland lost their second wicket on 29. In the very next over of Tector’s dismissal, Mahedi Hasan who was called up as the replacement of Saif Hasan, picked up his first wicket. Ireland were in trouble after losing three quick wickets then Simi Singh alongside Sean Terry took the responsibility and didn’t allow to make any more damage to the hosts bowlers. Simi batted aggressively till the lunch break and his quick firing innings of 46 runs including two sixes and 4 fours led his side to go to lunch by adding 92 runs on the board.
