“Tamim would be best alternative” says Athar Ali

In seventeen year long Test journey of Bangladesh, the Tigers picked up 10 wins out of which 7 were achieved under the captaincy of Mushfiqur Rahim. It is precipitously reported that board authorities has started thinking to make a change in the captaincy after the end of the series.

Former captain and Chief Selector Faruque Ahmed thinks it is not the right time to discuss about the matter.

“Things might go wrong sometimes. But I think it is not the appropriate time to talk about it. Why the burden of failure is always inflicted upon the captain?” asked the chief selector.

“There are gross mistakes on the part of the team management here. Mushfiqur said team management decided where he ought to field. Is it anything good at all? Although Mushfiqur should not revealed these issues publicly,” he said.

Former selector Athar Ali Khan backed Tamim Iqbal to be the new captain of Bangladesh Test team in case Mushfiqur Rahim would be discarded ultimately from the captaincy.

“Some might think Shakib Al Hasan could be the right choice. But to me Tamim Iqbal is the best alternative. He is in good form as a batsman and I always observe him active in the field. He does not wait something to be happened. He is an aggressive batsman as well as aggressive fielder,” Athar Ali said. 1 of 1
