The Ashes, one of the biggest rivalry in Cricket has already kicked off on Thursday at Melbourne and Aussie off spinner Nathan Lyon has heated up the battle more by confessing that his side wanted to end careers of English players in 2013/14 and they are in the same mission again in 2017/18.
Lyon was part of Australia’s 5-0 victory against England in 2013/14 in which Mitchell Johnson picked up 37 wickets including some breathtaking spells. Lyon said he hopes Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins can do wonders like Johnson and scare the English players.
“Seeing Mitchell Johnson scare all the Poms was unbelievable. Leading into Perth [in 2013] we knew that they were broken. We knew Matt Prior wanted to fly home before the game started and he was one of the senior players. He was scared. I was at leg slip and I nearly had to push a couple of the guys back towards the stumps. It was good fun.”
In reply, Prior furiously denied the fact that he wanted to leave the tour and said: “If that was the case and I was scared, why didn’t I go home then? I have no idea where this has come from. It’s completely ridiculous and all I can do is laugh. It is wholeheartedly untrue. I stayed out there and what hurt me more was that I was dropped for the last two Tests because I wasn’t playing well.”
He added: “I hope the first Test goes well for Nathan. I will be watching with interest to see how he goes. He has other things to worry about rather than thinking about me. I hope he lets his performance do the talking.”
The battle has already been heated up outside the stadium due to some serious exchange of words between the players of two sides. Now the world awaits to see who will win the battle inside the stadium. 1 of 1
